A win, a loss, and of course, a potato.

Jamie's Cubs vs. Jack's Giants

Jack: Pitched the 1st inning. 2 walks, 2 runs, 2 strike-outs, and 1 put-out.
While at 3rd base, made the first out and successful throw for out 2 of a TRIPLE PLAY.
1 for 2 batting + a sacrifice fly.
Hit by ball en route to 1st so will have a fetching bruise on his arm tomorrow.
Stole 2 bases and eventually scored the winning (game-ending) run from 3rd base on a squeeze bunt.
GAME BALL.

Jamie: Pitched 1/3 of 6th inning. 1 walk, 1 run.
Played 1st base mostly.
1 for 3 (as 1 was fielder's choice).
Scored a run.
Stole 2 bases.
Perfectly acceptable game.
Did try to sling his arm around Jack at 1st to comfort his injury, managing to whack him right in the spot that was injured...very touching show of support.

Behavioral Notes, Completely Unrelated to Baseball:
After the game, I returned to an e-mail from the principal of Jamie's school confirming that the staff has no behavioral concerns about him.

Unlike yesterday (when Tim cracked the lid of his CD player with a goal kick and broke the brand-new slats of his less-than-a-month-old bed), today saw no property damage or physical assault. My bruised forearms say "Hallelujah".

Sudden Feast of Family Support from the Big Navy:
Item 1: ECRC (Expeditionary Combat Readiness Command) from Norfolk sent a huge parcel of information to me.
Item 2: Fleet Family Service Center also sending a parcel.
Item 3: E-mail contact established from COMNAVSURFOR ombudsman (via a neighbor attached to this command, that is supposed to be "following" the kids & me).
Item 4: E-mail newsletter from USS Antietam ombudsman.

Family Life Update:
Charlie shows great interest in the inanimate tuber.
Perhaps too great an interest?
