When last we saw this cucumber, it was in Patty Kiki's carry-on bag bound for the Pacific Northwest (a region where, one might note, many vegetables are indeed available for procurement in places resembling grocery markets). But that was last week and a lot of time has passed.
I subsequently attempted to determine that the cucumber enjoyed safe passage with the following e-mail excerpt:
Hey, did you eat that cucumber? If so, HOW?
Inquiring minds demand details including:
* Did you have a TSA-verboten peeler hiding in your carry-on?
* Did the flight attendants on Alaska [Airlines] let you borrow something sharp or did they offer to cut it for you?
* Did any of your progeny actually partake of the cucumber?
(That last inquiry was on behalf of Patty Grace, who was sure that the youngest Patty Kiki offspring's love of cucumberage was the reason this particular vegetable made the trip.)
Today when Patty Kiki called to touch base, I felt responsible to my blog readers to follow up and perhaps close the Mystery of the Cucumber's Transit and Fate.
Here's what I learned:
The cucumber transported from San Diego was indeed consumed...but not until Tuesday.
No peeler was available during the Pac NW outdoor adventure during which it was ingested; therefore, a paring knife was utilized to both peel and slice.
Yes, Patty Kiki's youngest received the majority of the cucumber.
In a stunning achievement of restraint (ruined by this blog posting), I refrained from observing that it might could have gone in her checked luggage. And avoided the certain humiliation of it passing through the x-ray machine.
