Compliment of the Year
So my friend (posing as Cafe Athena delivery gal) emerges from her vehicular transport this noon, looking all spiffy and freshly pedicured/manicured and svelte, and exclaims unto me:
"Don't you look 'XACTLY like a 16-year-old who is gonna have to attend that SPECIAL high school this fall! You know, the one where you can visit your baby during lunch and study hall!"
Being of "advanced maternal age" and seeing as how Ms. Patty Grace darn-skippy knows the coordinates where all of my grays reside (having held that squirt bottle of Clairol over said grays in a phenomenol battle of Good Vs. Gray), I am left to admit that my beach ball belly is rather pert and my polka-dotted toes do deduct years -- nay, DECADES -- and helpfully the gaze away from my age-lines. (Or maybe my shorts are too Britney-esque!)
Not only that but Patty Grace executed tactical maneuvers in a resale-type establishment to snatch up a couple pairs of size 10 shoes in fancy-schmancy brand-names (one in a fabulous tiger-print slide) that are sure to de-emphasize my party-olive look of a black maternity frock that I plan to don for Patty Kiki's hubby's upcoming Change-of-Command festivities. That kind of diving-on-the-grenade commitment to beautification deserves a "shout-out".
Not just a gyro, not just some trendy footwear, but then a Compliment to End All Compliments?!
Wonder if Riverside Villas High is enrolling for fall so I could see my baby's daddy, too?
