Audacity of Awesomeness, Iraqi-style

Aunt Patty Cake, trying to cheer me up from my Alert-the-Media dispatch about Patty Kiki's future whereabouts, sent me this:

Sand Crab finally reached me today, partially in response to my desperate alert that Patty Kiki was leaving town.

He relayed a little vignette that somehow failed to be viewed by his Clawness as blog-worthy. Since the standards are a bit (a LOT) lower here in the Castle, I'm co-opting it.

Our Crabby hero was meeting with a Brigadier General in the Iraqi Army at the Ministry of Defense. (Side note: I personally think "Ministry" sounds so much cooler than "Department" and hope that our government will give that some consideration in the near future).

As he has noted in his recent ramblings, as an international man of the mysterious PowerPoint (TM), he is endeavoring to increase his Arabic vocabulary. Attempting to make small talk with the gentleman who VASTLY outranks his "handsome and powerful" fanny while practicing his broken Arabic, Ben informs him that he has 4 "Arabic-for-sons" and 1 "Arabic-for-Daughter-on-the-way". (Side note: Fortunately for his Crabbiness, our numerals are derived from Arabic so there's that much less translation involved).

Per Ben's recounting, the General finds this wildly intriguing and an area of commonality. Basically, he says that Ben is "like Iraqi" (as big families are far more commonplace there) and teased him that he is "not so American." Or something like that. If the Sand Crab wants the story told right, he'd best tell it hisownself.

Nonetheless, bringing it back around to Yours Truly ~ Who knew my womb could be a force of international relations and diplomacy?!
