Day 35 (that would be 5-weeks down, only 52-ish to go!)
The J-Crabs had baseball games, respectively, today.
Jamie's hitting (the two at-bats that I witnessed) looked a bit sub-par. However, his Coach informed me that Jamie's inning of pitching was exemplary. 3 up, 3 down with a strike-out. No walks. Hooray for Jamie!
Jack's game (the entirety witnessed by me and my now-sunburnt arms and legs) was satisfactory. His head -- and, alas, mouth -- were in the game for the most part. 3 solid smacks that each made it, via lucky hop, out of the infield. 3 or 4 RBIs, courtesy of hitting mid-line-up. Solid play at shortstop and third with a couple of innings of right field just to put maximum distance between his running commentary and the coach's ears. Proud parent moment of the day was Jack mid-at-bat with the coach trying to give him feedback that he needed to swing (after a strike was called) retorting, "That pitch was in the DIRT!" inches from the umpire's ear. One comment to irritate two influential-in-the-moment adults. Genius!
Unfortunately, Tim does not have a like outlet. Started the day in a grumpy mood...pinching, scratching, punching, etc. After the games, he revved up at me again, this time kicking (successfully) a hole in the drywall in his room and delivering a pretty darn good corner kick to my belly. Lots of drama after, although now that dinner's over he has pretty much accepted that there's no dessert tonight and tomorrow better be an improvement. The Crab Queen is less easily calmed.
