The Trend of Household Appliance Malfunction Continues...
Perfect timing for Ben's folks to travel to San Diego...because I'm at my very *best* when my household efficiency aids fail.
Today's Sand Castle casualty: the hot water heater.
Yes, friends, this morning the Crab Queen planned on a "quick shower" not realizing how motivated she'd be to make it a QUICKEST shower when the water was, say, 63-degrees cold.
First maintenance hot ticket call ... the pilot was out.
*** APC, LLGA and I drowned my cold-water shower sorrows with a speedy trip to the mall, exchanging online purchases and playing the ever-popular "Beat the Bus" home by noon. ***
Second maintenance hot ticket call when the water was less than lukewarm after 2 hours of theoretical hot water heater operation ... pilot on but temperature control not functional. Fortunately, the Crab Queen is just unstable enough about the dangers of gas line malfunction to filibuster the maintenance guy with borderline-crazy-eyes questions about the safety aspects of pilot light outages long enough for the pilot to cooperatively extinguish in front of his very eyes. (And, no, I was NOT close enough for my hot air to have blown it out!)
This nifty trick won us several hours of NO water which is almost like having broken laundry, dishwasher, AND toilets. *What a lark*
Tonight we have hot water once again...just in time for the boys and APC to enjoy warm, Hollywood-length (i.e., leisurely) showers. Humph!
