Making up for lost time: FOTY '08 come-from-behind entry

The Sand Crab is on his third child-centric outing in 3 days~

Sunday afternoon the Sand Crab drug a kicking, screaming, and did I mention SCREAMING Charlie to Kate Sessions Park. (Charlie has adopted the hate-socks-and-shoes and hate-leaving-the-house charming approach to Life). Surprising only Charlie, he had a delightful time on the play equipment, digging in the dirt (ugh), and finding pinecones.

Monday afternoon (in another San Diego rainstorm), Ben loaded up the elder 3 crablets to fulfill one of Jamie's Dad-requests: bowling. (Credit to the She-Crab for calling it real: MCRD was indeed unable to accommodate our family group due to its popularity and its decision to resurface half-a-dozen lanes during the vacation. Sooooo, Ben let the J-crabs loose in the free arcade before going to 32nd Street for Bowling, part deux). Apparently, Jack's form leaves a bit to be desired but Tim got several strikes (with bumpers engaged)...aside from one ball that landed atop the bumper and then stayed there, frozen. This situation required a bowling alley professional to correct. Ben seemed a smidge mortified but I was all about pointing to the positive: how "if the pants were on Tim's fanny, then problems you ain't got any." You can just call me Queen Pollyanna! Jamie's game was better than his competitive personality (he gets a bit surly and over-focussed when he senses he's not winning...wherever did he acquire THAT personality trait?!). Reportedly, there were quite a few snack-bar visits and, aside from their tardy return (as Tim's in-home therapist was waiting for him), it was a fine, fine outing.

This morning (Tuesday), Ben loaded up the vociferous Charlie and the two J-crabs to renew our membership at the Natural History Museum. He was reminded to take his camera so there may be photographic evidence of mirth and togetherness posted later...no promises of photos or merriment since Charlie reprised his no-shoes-no-socks-no-pleasant role. It will be a short trip as Charlie has in-home therapy this afternoon and I am planning to go shopping with GMK and Grandpa Mike while Tim is at CCC Kids *all afternoon*.

God bless CCC Kids for being open during break and God bless the Sand Crab for taking three-fifths of the crablets out of pocket for the morning.
