Photojournalistic Submission: Ben's real name is Job.

Complaining of cold symptoms (in our toyhouse-sized, galley kitchen).

Running a fever.

Recovering from Tuesday's problem.

40% are free of significant complaint. Not exactly a percentage I'm embracing.

GMK's Influence...

It wasn't enough to pass on the minimalist (anti-Jolie) lips...

She has sucked LLGA into the QVC zone at such a young, impressionable age:

Three words:

Big bold gold.

Proving that there IS such a thing as TOO MUCH of a cute thing...

A vent with a big sigh.

What a messy week it's been in the Castle...

Tuesday, GMK returned. Grandma Susan and I were slightly late fetching her at the airport as we had to resolve the most unfortunate Great Pottery Barn Stocking Debacle with a quick run through the Children's Place (great sale).

Home to offload and receive Charlie. Charlie ate his homemade lunch on the road en route to an office-based clinic meeting with me, GMK (who nodded off repeatedly during the clinic meeting), and LLGA. (Grandma Susan stayed home to pack).

Departed the meeting, with our hearts embracing a destiny of Weiner Schnitzel lunch (at 2:45 p.m.)...as I reached the intersection nearest to Tim's PE/Band school, the phone rang to inform me that Tim had had a most unhygienic episode of diarrhea -- "Did I want him to go to CCC Kids?"

Committing a slightly-frowned-upon driving maneuver to the disdain of neighboring vehicles, I altered course to fetch the boy. Kudos to his aide and the school nurse but UGH.

Home to engage in SuperFund-qualifying clean-up. Only GMK (whose sole food was a Cinnabon at o-dark-thirty (central time)) remained poised to fetch the Der. The rest of us inhaled it as it turned out.

Spent the next 24 hours on Poo Watch and cajoling Tim to ingest the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) with saltine crackers, Gatorade (TM), lemon-lime soft drinks, and copious quantities of yogurt. The pediatrician's take is that he was placed on a non-pediatric dose of Zithromax and that guess looks to have played out as no other Castle inhabitants have succumbed to a GI bug of any sort. BUT ... due to my super-duper BRAT intervention, he also didn't give the Watchers anything noteworthy until just this morning, meaning that only today Friday is Tim going back to school.

Not to be outdone by his big brother, Charlie cranked out another high fever on Wednesday evening. 103.7 is the high so far. He did reject (volatilely) oral Tylenol so it's been an extra-special fun fest.

Jack is busy narrating his cold symptoms.

I had to go to the doctor myself for an earache. (Apparently, I'm unable to tell the difference between ears and sinus issues as I'm on sinus meds now).

And in betwixt all this joy, Jamie had a cardiologist appointment yesterday. EKG was normal. The doctor did an ultrasound of his heart...very cool to watch and even better to be told there's nothing structural. In short, the plumbing is good and the electrical system may be intermittently awry. Nothing dramatic, but the doctor still wants the event harness (which is STILL not in our possession, but that's another painful story). His take is that Jamie has low-normal blood pressure and that with even mild CP, he doesn't have the orthostatic reactions to handle changes in position as well as average people -- especially if he is not excellently hydrated. Moreover, the doctor also suspects that with his neurological system, things that we could filter (perfume, being too hot, etc.) exacerbate what we would take as fleeting nausea to become near-fainting. Needless to say, I'm relieved.

Too bad my tree remains unassembled/undecorated, holiday cards unaddressed, and parcels unposted. They HAVE to go to school next week.
